“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” (Psalm 143:10) (Read by Max McLean. Provided by The Listener's Audio Bible.)
On August 8-12, we went Backstage with the Bible for Vacation Bible School. Each evening began with a meal and a Go Fish Guys "concert", followed by Bible lessons, crafts, and more.
Pastor Jon Lobos and Darcy Trego traveled to Alajuelita, Costa Rica to do some work on one of our ABC Churches in February 2010. The trip was led by Pastor John Stewart from the First Baptist Church in Arthur, IL. They were joined by Tom Hess of Arthur, IL and Casey Chatham of Terre Haute, IN. While there the group was hosted by missionaries Gary and Mylinda Baits and their family.
It is always such a beautiful night to be in God’s house, but especially on Christmas Eve! First Baptist Church Members came together to honor and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The members of the Tucker Family concluded the Advent Season with the fifth and final reading of Advent and the lighting of the Christ Candle. It is on this night that communion is offered to all in remembrance of the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ. The sanctuary was aglow in candle light as the First Baptist Church Members sang “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World”; bring to a close another beautiful Christmas Eve Service here at the First Baptist Church.
What exactly is a Progressive Dinner you ask? A Progressive Dinner is a dinner party in which each successive course is prepared and eaten at the residence of a different participant. Members of the First Baptist Church started out their evening at the home of Dr. Jason and Beth Graham, who served the appetizer portion of the meal. Everyone then moved to the home of Pastor Jon and Merrilee Lobos, who served a main course of … you guessed it … SALAD! The group then traveled to the third and final home of Wayne and Glenda Berry who served everyone’s favorite course, dessert. We hope to see you at the next Progressive Dinner!
